Victorian Radicals: Community Opening at SAM

June 13, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Celebrate the opening of Victorian Radicals: From the Pre-Raphaelites to the Arts and Crafts Movement with a night of live performance, jazz, and art making at Seattle Art Museum. The live music will be performed by JazzEd Girls Ellington Project (5:30 to 7:30pm) and Gail Pettis with her band (7:30 – 9pm).

All night long, guests will add to a flowering installation, inspired by the florid artwork of the new exhibit. Artist Jennifer Lawrence Bennett will assist guests in their creations, using recycled metals to emboss, cut, and color. Elsewhere, artist Allison Kudla, PhD will use technology and ecological principles to guide the creation of an immersive, William Morris-inspired wallpaper pattern installation. And outside, artist Gabrielle Abott will be creating a chalk-based work inspired by the works in Victorian Radicals.

This event is free and all-ages, but RSVPs are appreciated. Register online.
