Paul Dorpat and Jean Sherrard on Now and Then

November 7, 2018 @ 5:30 pm

$10

From Folio:

A new book celebrates a lifetime of documenting Seattle’s heritage, Now and Then, by Paul Dorpat and Jean Sherrard

For the past 36 years, public historian Paul Dorpat has produced photo-history columns that pair an old photo of the city with a contemporary photo from the same perspective. Now from those 1,800 columns, Dorpat and his collaborator Jean Sherrard (who serves as the column’s “now” photographer) have produced a coffee-table compilation, “Seattle Now and Then: The Historic Hundred.” Dorpat and Sherrard will be on hand to show photos, talk history, and sign books.

Dorpat and Sherrard’s epic chronicling of the city is sweetened with wit and peppered with an eye for the offbeat. In the debate about rapid growth and loss of character buildings, the book provides vivid evidence of losses and gains.

Books will be available for signing and purchase, along with complimentary beer and wine
