Since 2011, the APRIL Small Press Festival has brought the PNW’s indie literary community together in a big way. Like APRIL says, “Small press publishing demonstrates the best of what is vital, daring, and energizing in writing today.” This year’s festival goes down this Saturday, April 1 from noon to midnight at Hugo House in First Hill.

This year’s lineup of local talent includes Matthew Simmons, Chelsea Werner-Jatzke, Quenton Baker, Elissa Washuta, Anca Szilagyi, Peter Mountford, Jane Wong and Naa Akua. How about a rundown of the festival’s exciting schedule?

APRIL Festival Lineup:

  • 12-4pm: Independent Publishing Expo + Performances
    • Meet publishers and browse books from over 20 independent presses
  • 5pm: Happy Hour
    • Grab a drink and tell us what you found at the book expo!
      (You can also look forward to poetry experiments with Vis-à-Vis Society.)
  • 6pm: Reading and Dinner
    • With Jayinee Basu, Tommy Pico and Anastacia Renee Tolbert
  • 8pm: A Poet, a Playwright, a Novelist and a Drag Queen
    • A special all-star edition of APRIL’s most popular event
  • 10:30pm: Closing Night Party
