5th Annual Seattle Asian American Film Festival, February 23-26

Film lovers rejoice for the 5th Annual Seattle Asian American Film Festival, beginning this Thursday, February 23 through Sunday, February 26. The festival has chosen #StarringUs for their theme for 2017. From Seattleaaff.org: The Seattle Asian American Film Festival (SAAFF) showcases feature-length and short format films by and about Asian Americans across North America, with an emphasis on filmmakers from the Pacific Northwest. Our next festival takes place Feb. 23rd – 26th, 2017 at SIFF Cinema Egyptian and Northwest Film Forum. SAAFF is the only film festival in Seattle to provide a space for Asian American voices, perspectives and histories by screening independent films that reflect the diversity and richness of the city’s Asian American community. The festivities kick off this Thursday night at SIFF Cinema Egyptian with a screening of A Taste of Home at 7:30pm. Directed by Tay and Val, the opening night documentary chronicles the evolution of chop-suey and 100 years of cuisine in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District (the C-ID). Two short films will precede the feature: Who Killed Donnie Chin and Year of the Dragon.
