The live music on weekends at Vito’s in First Hill is always fantastic, but this weekend feels extra special. Two distinct acts will set the late crowd’s hearts aflame: Kareem Kandi and Mal DeFleur.

Saxophonist and bandleader Kareem Kandi has been entertaining (and wowing) audiences for twenty years. At Vito’s, expect a mix of originals, jazz standards, as well as funk and blues. Kandi and crew take the stage at 9:30pm.

At midnight, the bar goes into full cabaret mode. Performance artist and singer Mal DeFleur is joined by accompanist Christopher Jones, for a night of “clichés.” In advance of Valentine’s Day, the duo has selected and arranged a program of romantic torch songs and given them a personal touch. It promises to be at turns touching, melancholy and hilarious.
