We have entered a new year. Valentine’s Day is upon us. Spring—and love—is in the air. It’s a perfect time to gift a loved one with something that sparkles.

Blue Nile has epitomized the modern approach to shopping for jewelry with their innovative online presence. The company recently opened a Blue Nile Webroom in Bellevue Square where customers can engage in an up close and personal experience with this hybrid of the online/offline store.

Unlike traditional jewelry stores, Blue Nile invites shoppers to try on an assortment of engagement rings, view more than 400 pieces of jewelry from every angle, and get pressure-free advice from non-commissioned consultants. In addition, shoppers can access an online catalog of 150,000 independently-graded diamonds from in-store tablets.

Blue Nile Manager Kristie Calihan tells me that the Bellevue Square Mall location is the company’s fifth brick-and-mortar store since branching out from being online-only. Calihan says the customer driven business thrives on the personalization of jewelry and the ability to build a ring around any budget with a maximum two week turn around. Try-on tables make it easy and fun to try on many styles quickly, and you can peruse more styles on tablets, too. When you need a little “diamond 101” the store’s consultants are readily available.

Whether you are gifting a special piece of jewelry, looking ahead to Valentine’s day or popping the question, the Blue Nile store’s modern approach to shopping for fine jewelry can help you make someone’s new year sparkle bright.
