Portland-based future soul rockers Pwrhaus kick off a winter west coast tour at Vermillion this weekend, Sunday, January 22. They are joined by Seattle’s own Noonmoon (AKA Mike Sparks) and Northern Thorns, an Afro-dance rock collective inspired by Cavacha music. (Cavacha is a dance rhythm and music style from the mid-1970s Kinshasa [DR Congo] scene.) Northern Thorns uses Cavacha sounds with an indie-pop twist.

These three different acts are united by strong technique and a love for musical forms across continents and eras. Music fiends and casual listeners alike will find something new to love, for sure.
