Fans of horror don’t quit on the genre as soon as Halloween is over! Oh no. For many, the season starts at the first sign of fall and doesn’t end until well into November. Such is the case for SIFF Cinema and their Midnight Thrills & Chills film series. Perhaps you caught their screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show over Halloween weekend. Either way, this Friday and Saturday, November 4-5, the haunt continues with a screening of Phantasm: Ravager (2016). The show starts at 11:55pm at SIFF Cinema Egyptian in Capitol Hill.

If you’re nothing like me, you’ve been following the Phantasm horror film franchise for the last 37 years. It’s just one of those franchises that I’ve been meaning to get around to forever but never have. The latest and last of the series brings the count up to 5 films. (This weekend’s viewing is still several days away, so there’s still time to catch up!) The series was re-invigorated when the fully restored version of Phantasm (1979) returned to theaters earlier this fall.

SIFF has this to say about the latest incarnation:

“For 37 years, audiences have followed small town friends Reggie, Mike, and Jody in their quest to stop the evil, dimension-hopping schemes of The Tall Man (Angus Scrimm in his final performance) and his armada of killer Sentinel Spheres. Now, Don Coscarelli’s acclaimed horror/sci-fi Phantasm franchise comes to a close in a truly epic finale, a multi-dimensional battle across multiple timelines, alien planets, and altered realities, where no less than the fate of Earth is on the line.”

Just feast your eyes on this spooky trailer!
