The award-winning artist duo zoe | juniper return to Seattle with their latest creation, Clear And Sweet at On the Boards, October 20-22. The pair began collaborating at On the Boards in 2004 for a NW New Works festival. Ten years later, Zoe Scofield‘s challenging, intense choreography has thrice earned a Princess Grace Award. She was also a Guggenheim fellow in 2015. Videographer and visual artist Juniper Shuey augments the human performance with surreal and immersive installations. A prime example would be the gorgeous installation by the duo in the Genius exhibition at the Frye Art Museum earlier this year.

On the Boards has this to say about Clear And Sweet:

Angular ballet and unearthly psalms come together in a quasi-religious ritual inspired by the tradition of American Shape Note Singing. Visionary duo zoe | juniper create a surreal, communal world of ever-shifting perspective and sound with the help of a cast of virtuosic dancers, unabashed live singing, and digital wizardry.

Clear And Sweet was created in part during the Tisch Dance Summer Residency Program at New York University and in residence at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, On the Boards, Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans, and The Bellagio Center through the Rockefeller Foundation.

We highly recommend it.
