SIFF‘s annual Irish Reels Film Festival showcases contemporary Irish films, starting this Friday, October 7 through Sunday, October 9. The festival is a two-day event that provides in-depth exploration into the Irish filmmaking industry  as well as Irish heritage, culture and history.

On Friday, the festival will open with a gala at 6pm, co-hosted by Irish Network Seattle, followed by the feature presentation of Simon Fitzmaurice‘s beautifully crafted, visually stunning and moving coming of age story My Name is Emily

This lovely film starring Evanna Lynch (Harry Potter‘s Luna Lovegood), Michael Smiley, and newcomer George Webster takes us on the journey of a teenage girl running away from a foster home with the boy who loves her. She searches for her visionary writer father who is locked up in a psychiatric institution. As their journey progresses, Emily and Arden become close, and both come to realize important truths about the nature of relationships, both to their parents and to each other.

Visit SIFF for a complete list of all the films at the festival.
