On Saturday, July 16, the inaugural CHANNEL Seattle Record Label Fest will unroll onto the two floors of Fred Wildlife Refuge. With over 30 Seattle-area labels in attendance, the event allows musicians and listeners access to the diversity that the city’s music scene has to offer. Visitors will be able to meet label owners and discover new music. The festivities will begin at 12pm with some free all-ages action and a live soundtrack provided by local indie/underground DJs. At 8pm, the event makes its shift from day to night, turning into a 21+ concert with a $12 entry, featuring four Pacific Northwest favorites: Hibou, Gaytheist, SSDD and Roladex. The whole day will be laced with music-themed activities, outdoor food trucks and individuals in the arts community.
CHANNEL Fest goes far beyond a simple good time. It was created to not only unite the community with local record labels, but to create a strong community between the labels themselves regardless of genre or size. The festival spotlights smaller, POC-led and undistributed labels that are vital to the industry.
