Experimental rock trio, Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog will perform at Tractor Tavern in Ballard on Wednesday, June 22. The collective features innovative guitarist Marc Ribot, along with Shahzad Ismaily on bass and electronics and Ches Smith on drums.
Ceramic Dog’s first record was a strong introduction to their eclectic, raw sound, but it was their second album, Your Turn, that proved to be their claim to fame. Having been featured on multiple ‘Best of 2013 lists,’ the band’s sophomore release further reveals their versatility, with influences ranging from punk to jazz. The record is a mixture of instrumental and vocal tracks that simultaneously highlight Ceramic Dog’s intriguing commentary and Ribot’s legendary guitar talent.
Easing the audience into a night of musical experimentation will be local alternative jazz band Skerik’s Bandalabra. Like Ceramic Dog, the group has found success by testing the limits of genres and diving into the unknown, and are just one more reason to travel to Tractor Tavern this Wednesday.
