On Sunday, June 12, SIFF was brought to a close with one final film and party to follow at the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI). The party followed the screening of the film The Dressmaker, starring Kate Winslet, Liam Hemsworth and Judy Davis. The film was a sharp adaptation of the novel, with love, homecoming and crime. It seemed like the perfect film to wrap up the packed festival.
MOHAI was certainly fitted to celebrate. Director Carl Spence was in attendance, along with The Dressmaker director, Jocelyn Moorhouse. Many people involved in the festival gathered to celebrate the achievements of their peers and the festival as a whole. Golden Space Needle Award winners from the festival included Captain Fantastic for Best Film, Gleason for Best Documentary, Javier Ruiz Caldera of Spy Time for Best Director, Rolf Lassgård of A Man Called Ove for Best Actor and Vicky Hernandez of Between Sea and Land for Best Actress. Several other awards were distributed during the festival, including Grand Jury Prizes and the SIFF Official Competition.
