Everyone loves Aragorn! (And other beloved Viggo Mortensen characters as well.) Hence, The 42nd Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) is pleased to present A Tribute to Viggo Mortensen, this Saturday, June 11. Beginning at 1:30pm, festivities will include a screening of Captain Fantastic. Mortensen’s latest film chronicles an eccentric family who’ve been living off the grid in Washington state, until they’re suddenly thrust back into modern society with hilarious and poignant consequences. Director Matt Ross and producer Lynette Howell Taylor are scheduled to attend the tribute, along with the man of the hour, Mr. Mortensen himself. SIFF organizers describe Mortensen’s career like so:
“An actor, painter, and poet, Viggo Mortensen’s combination of rugged exterior and reflective interior have infused his wide range of film roles with equal parts gravitas and compassion—from criminals to cowboys, lovers to lieutenants, post-apocalyptic survivors to sagacious psychoanalysts, and the rightful king of Gondor.”
After the film, Reception & Tribute ticket holders are invited to a reception at The Alexis Hotel (1007 1st Ave) for a post-film hoorah, catered by Chef Caprial Pence, featuring wines provided by Chateau Ste. Michelle Estates.
Tickets are available at the SIFF Box office and are $150 for Reception & Tribute or $50 for tribute only.
