SNL veteran and indie film star Molly Shannon will join the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) on Sunday, May 22 for “An Afternoon with Molly Shannon.” Beginning at 4:30pm at the SIFF Cinema Egyptian, Shannon will take the stage for an interview about her work, clips from her career and a chance to answer questions from the audience.
Tickets to the event include a screening of Shannon’s latest film, Other People. Directed by SNL and Broad City writer Chris Kelly (also in attendance), the film also stars Jesse Plemons, Bradley Whitford, June Squibb and Maude Apatow. From SIFF.net:
Molly Shannon’s penchant for theatrical comedy inspired some of “Saturday Night Live’s” most famous characters from 1995-2001, including Mary Catherine Gallagher and Sally O’Malley. Shannon went on to appear in several films such as Superstar, Wet Hot American Summer, Marie Antoinette, last year’s SIFF favorite Me, Earl and the Dying Girl, and the TV series “Glee” and “Enlightened.” Her ability to shift seamlessly from comic characters to more nuanced dramatic roles is something not many can match.
Tickets are available at the SIFF box office and are $35 general admission.
