Co-Presented with The Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), the Seattle Symphony presents Sonic Evolution: This is Indie! featuring Michael Gordon, Tomoko Mukaiyama, Fly Moon Royalty and Filmmaker Bill Morrison. Bill Morrison and Michael Gordon team up to create a night of filmic and musical excellence. With archival footage from Seattle’s history and Gordon’s concerto for pianist and multimedia artist Tomoko Mukaiyama, Seattle is in for a treat. In addition, Seattle indie-pop rockers Fly Moon Royalty will take the stage with their unique sound of mixing genres—including blues, hip-hop and electronica—all with a new orchestral backdrop as they collaborate with composer William Brittelle. The event is presented as part of the Seattle Symphony’s New Music WORKS initiative, which is supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Be sure to make it to this evening of genre and style mixing. Tickets run $25-$52.
