The streets of Ballard are about to be flush with smooth sounds, because this Wednesday, May 11 through Saturday, May 14, The 2016 Ballard Jazz Festival is returning to Seattle’s iconic neighborhood for its 14th year.

The event kicks off on Wednesday at 8pm with Brotherhood of the DrumOn Thursday at 8pm, check out Guitar Summit, where guitarists take the stage to show off their finest six-string talent. Both events go down at Conor Byrne Pub (5140 Ballard Avenue NW) and are 21+.

On Friday, May 13, The Ballard Jazz Walk begins at 6pm at various venues throughout Ballard, including New York Fashion Academy, Lock & Keel, Salmon Bay Eagles and other Ballard hotspots. Get a full program list and download a jazz walk map here. 

Saturday’s lineup features a full day of jazz, at the Nordic Heritage Museum (3014 NW 67th St), beginning with a Swedish Pancake Jazz Brunch at 11am. At 7:30pm, the Mainstage Concert will close out the festival. The organizers have this to say about it:

“The crown jewel of the festival, we welcome international jazz artists to Ballard at our Mainstage Concert at the Nordic Heritage Museum. Performing this year is legendary guitarist Mike Stern with the George Colligan trio. Opening the concert is New York pianist Hal Galper and his trio featuring Jeff Johnson and John Bishop.”
