On Thursday April 7, the Linda Hodges Gallery will hold an Artist Reception for Heidi Oberheide, whose new paintings will be on exhibit through April 30 alongside the work of Stephen Rock. Oberheide’s work has been shown throughout much of the Pacific Northwest and draws much of its inspiration from the beauty of Whidbey Island. As a result, her work is rich in vertical color shapes as she evokes natural elements, like trees, reducing them into colorful and elemental forms. Her work has been shown at several institutions, including the National Gallery of Canada, Microsoft, Tacoma Art Museum, Vulcan NW and the Museum of Western Art in Spokane.

Stephen Rock’s work, showing with Oberheide’s at Linda Hodges Gallery, deals with mixed media as he creates abstract pieces that are heavy with alternate representation. Most recently, his work has utilized process digital works. He has received regional and national recognition from a multitude of places including the City of Seattle Portable Works, Swedish Hospital Corporate Collection, Bainbridge Island Museum of Art and the King County Public Works Collection.

Be sure to stop by this reception if you’re out and about for First Thursday.
