For ten years running, the National Festival for Talented Youth (pronounced “nifty”) has been showcasing the very best of young directors, 24 and under, from around the world. This year, the festival will take place April 28 through May 1 in Seattle.

Thursday’s Opening Gala rolls out the red carpet at 7:30pm in Seattle’s historic Cinerama theater. After that, the weekend schedule features a truly diverse variety of feature length and short films at SIFF Cinema Uptown, with showing from 11:30am to 10:30pm (made by youngsters with late bedtimes). If the festival’s trailer is any indication, this collection of movies promises to be intelligent, visually arresting and strange.

For a complete rundown of the schedule, visit nffty.org. Tickets for films can be purchased individually, or you can see everything with a 3-day pass. Early bird tickets for adults run $80 until March 31st–after that, who knows.
