Champions of Seattle’s new music scene, Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra will present its penultimate concert of this season on Saturday, February 27. The program is entitled World Sounds, and will include works by Grieg, Kodaly and Milhaud, paired with two world premieres, the winners of SMCO’s International Composition Competition for Young Composers and their Local Composers Competition.

Now in its seventh season, SMCO is headed by composer and conductor Geoffrey Larson and is quickly becoming one of the top ensembles to watch in Seattle’s art music community. Their focus on young composers and new works sets SMCO apart, and Larson’s artful and bold programming makes for interesting concerts.
