Artist Talk: Chris Antemann at BAM, Feb. 27

Join Chris Antemann for a presentation about her solo exhibition at Bellevue Art Museum, Forbidden Fruit, opening this week. Antemann will speak about the development of her unique and limited-edition artworks using the traditional practices of Meissen Porcelain Manufactory, one of the oldest hard-cast porcelain producers in Europe. She will also illustrate the collaborative and complex process of constructing new narratives from the rediscovered historical forms unearthed in Meissen’s 300-year-old archive. From the website: In 2011, Oregon-based sculptor Chris Antemann was invited to participate in the Art Studio program of the legendary MEISSEN Porcelain Manufactory. During the program she collaborated with the MEISSEN master artisans on unique pieces and a series of limited editions of her sculptures, resulting in a grand installation that reinvents and invigorates the great porcelain figurative tradition. Tickets for the Artist Talk are $5 for BAM members and $10 for nonmembers–you can register here. Antemann’s exhibit opens on February 26 and is showing at BAM through May 29. Take a look over at BAM’s website to get a peek at her intricate and playful porcelain work!
