Ballard’s Nordic Heritage Museum is opening their 2016 Mostly Nordic Chamber Music Series & Smörgåsbord this Sunday, January 31 at 4 PM. The series, held annually for the past 21 years, continues through June with a monthly chamber music concert and a veritable smorgasbord of Nordic treats to follow.

Each month the Nordic Museum will feature musicians and delicacies from a different country; the concert on January 31 is in celebration of Sweden. The evening’s program, “Jazz på Nordiska,” features Swedish pianist Per Danielsson, saxophonist Tamara Danielsson and bassist Chuck Deardorf in an exploration of Nordic jazz styles mapped onto the work of more classical Swedish composers. Swedish treats to follow!

The remaining concerts travel to Finland (February 21), Denmark (March 20), Norway (May 1) and Iceland (June 5), each with different chamber ensembles and internationally-known musicians.

Season and single tickets are available; Nordic Museum members enjoy a discount, as well. Check out the ticketing options here.
