Personalization is increasingly important in every market, but especially in beauty and fashion. Since 1935 Lancôme has been making people feel and look beautiful, and in developing their new customizable Le Teint Particulier foundation, they have made some great advancements that allow them to formulate a perfect match for one’s skin tone. Vanguard Seattle editor-in-chief Sarah Caples and I attended a private unveiling this week at the Olympic Sculpture Park Pavilion, where we learned some of the science and technology behind it.

Hosting the evening was Xavier Vey, President of Lancome USA, who welcomed the well-heeled crowd and spoke of the luxury brand’s emphasis on their highly personalized approach to beauty. Guests included Miss Washington USA 2016, Stormy Tefeler, Mrs. Washington Dionne Tarter, and Miss Teen Washington USA 2016, Claire Wright.

Here is the lowdown on Lancôme’s Le Teint Particulier:

The Experience

The one-on-one consultation begins as a Lancôme Beauty Advisor scans a client’s facial skin tone. The data is processed through a new, state-of-the-art algorithm that measures skin tone with pinpoint accuracy. From there, the personalized formula is blended right at the counter and the client’s shade number is printed on the bottle for easy reference upon refill.

The Technology

Lancôme’s Le Teint Particulier custom made machine maintains color accuracy with eight peristaltic heart pumps for an airtight blending and dispensing process. The innovative technology also allows for customized coverage: full, medium or sheer. The formula is designed to provide up to 24-hour hydration and can be enhanced with an additional moisturizer on an individual basis.

The Formula

Le Teint Particulier is considered a game-changing formula for Lancôme. Infused with micro-fill technology, the foundation feels weightless and contains high-impact pigments that are designed to glide on easily to flatter and hydrate all skin types. Shades are meticulously created to reflect cool, warm or neutral undertones and provide a flawless finish. The long-wearing, breathable formula is oil-free, fragrance-free and safe for sensitive skin types. A 1-oz. bottle is $80.

Finding a perfect makeup match can be frustrating and overwhelming; foundation is definitely not a “one size fits all” type of product, which makes this highly personalized process all the more exciting. Le Teint Particulier is available exclusively at Nordstrom Del Amo Fashion Center and Nordstrom Downtown Seattle.
