The City Arts Art Walk Awards always promise a party, and the winter edition this past Thursday at Sole Repair delivered, albeit quietly at first thanks to a whole host of gallery shows that opened the same night in Pioneer Square. By the time the winners were announced near the end of the night, however, the space was packed with a line out the door. Artists, collectors, enthusiasts and assorted guests mingled, danced and most importantly voted for their favorite piece from a select group of nine artworks shown this past season in the neighborhood art walks. Devon Midori Hale took the top prize with the quiet force of “Empty Chair at the Table,” followed by Megumi Shauna Arai’s intimate video piece And is this…? in second place, while Allyce Wood took third with her coiled cut paper drawing, “Loose Weave.”

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees. Be on the lookout for the next installment of the Art Walk Awards coming in the spring. Till then, happy art walking!
