This week, holiday party season officially begins, so if you have a few Evites, Paperless Posts and snail mails floating about in your post box, it is time to figure out what to wear. Before you head out the door to eat, drink and be merry, choose a look that is festive, appropriate for the occasion, and has killer style. Anyone can wear a LBD (that’s little black dress, people), but YOU can rock sequins, feathers, and, yes, a jumpsuit.

Deck The Halls: Three Festive Holiday Looks

Tree Trimming Party, Gift Exchange or Festive Dinner with Friends

The fast fashion looks can definitely come in handy at holiday time where you can find a lot of bang for your festive buck. H&M’s Sequin Pants sparkled at me from the store window a couple of weeks ago, and because the fit is fantastic, the deal was sealed. These fancy pants need a top that can keep up without being too crazy. Creating a look by mixing high (the top) and low items (the pants) can keep you looking fab without breaking the bank. The Markus Lupfer Chandelier sweater has a low key black body with a cheeky print on the front that is just right. Add a pair of gorgeous Amelia Toro Suede Pumps and a subtle little pair of Kate Spade bow studs. I am all about the box clutch, it is such a classic piece that goes with anything, so grab this cool little Natasha Couture Resin Box Clutch before you dash out the door. Christian Louboutin’s Nail Colours are all the rage (and a splurge), so wrapping one as a hostess gift is certain to make you a very popular party guest.

Deck the Halls #2

Fancy Company Holiday Party, Night Out on The Town, Black Tie Event

On my friend Monica’s trip to Paris, she saw feathers everywhere. On sweaters, bags and shoes, this look is retro and glamorous. J. Crew’s president and creative director, Jenna Lyons arrived at the recent Solange Knowles wedding wearing a J. Crew Collection full length cream feather skirt that sent the fashion world into a tizzy—and to their computers to figure out how to get the look. The Nicole Miller Artelier Ombre Feathers Skirt follows this trend in a low-key way. A lovely pencil skirt with black and magenta ombre, feathers and jewels, it is a modern take on a classic style. The Nili Lotan Crossover Neck Sleeveless Top is beautiful on its own and is also perfect under the Helmut Lang Cropped Smoking Tux Blazer. I am in love with Edie Parker’s super fun and creative acrylic clutches, so this Flavia LOVE Clutch seemed like the perfect accessory. Because there aren’t a ton of feathers on the skirt, the black Schutz Uiara Feather Sandals help make this outfit a standout. I wanted to give a final touch with a nod to the late designer, Oscar de la Renta. Mr. de la Renta’s pieces are heirloom-quality investments, and the  Short Tassel Earrings are as classic and timeless as the man himself. Keep yourself warm as you leave the festivities with this J. Crew Tibetan Shearling Infinity Scarf.

Christmas Eve, New Years Eve and Other Champagne Worthy Events

Do not fear the word “jumpsuit”. This is the sophisticated sister of the little black dress, but with a little more personality, and it can be worn by anyone who really owns it. The Derek Lam 10 Crosby Monochromatic Strapless Jumpsuit is beautiful in an understated and wearable way thanks to its subtle details—an overlayered split fabric at the back of the bodice, black and white fabric and two slant pockets. You just need one statement jewelry piece for this look, and Lulu Frost for J. Crew’s Vineyard Necklace is the perfect wow factor. Wearing Sarah Jessica Parker’s SJP Marlene Brogue Pointy Toe Pump in gold patent keeps it chic, and the final touches are among my favorites: The Whistles Fitzroy Cuff Clutch is a festive little combo of a smart navy leather clutch attached to a fur wrist cuff. Clever. And the “It” coat this season? Why it’s the faux fur coats by the British brand Shrimps, which delivers fuzzy color blocking that is retro fun and seen on all the groovy girls across the pond. The Shrimps Mabel Coat will keep you cozy as you dash from party to party.

Get inspired to have a little sparkle, a little something different, and have a whole lot of fun this holiday season with looks that stand out and deliver with style.
