The Cinerama is one of Seattle’s original movie theaters and has (amazingly) kept its place in the film scene for more than 50 years. After struggling to compete with movie megaplexes in the 80’s and 90’s, it received a healthy remodel in 1999 and focused on niche markets of independent films and film festivals. To keep its place in Seattle, the Cinerama’s most recent update in 2014 is not only cool, its leaps above even the most advanced theaters. In fact, it is the most advanced theater!
The Cinerama’s updates include Dobly Atmos Sound, the first Christie 6P laser projector in any commercial theater (crisp resolution and brighter colors), reserved seating, and a full menu for food, beer and wine from local vendors such as Elysian Brewery, Cafe Vita, and Uli’s Famous Sausage.
Featured at the Cinerama is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. This film is the 3rd Hunger Games film in the series. It is split into two films with the fourth film titled Hunger Games:Mockingjay Part 2 due to release in 2015.
