As if there weren’t a million fabulous reasons to head to Pacific Place, here is one more. 8telier opened on the main floor this past month and it is a sophisticated little gem right in the heart of this downtown shopping destination. The minimalistic store is the first brick and mortar store of Jean Glover, a Seattle-based fashion designer who previously sold her line as wholesale only. I was told on my visit there that connecting with her customers in person is of utmost importance, and the feel of 8telier is one of a swanky boutique with a welcoming attitude.

Glover’s collection is both of the moment and timeless. Among its chic offerings is the 8telier Jacket, made with their exclusive Liquid fabric—a Japanese-made technical fabric that is polyester with resin and has the feel of lambskin. The edges of the jacket are run with airplane wire so that you can bend the collar or edges to customize the look. I also love the Elise Asymmetrical Skirt, which would be fabulous with or without tights and is super flattering with its wrap detail and high-low hemline.

In addition to a smaller selection of men’s pieces, the store also carries apothecary items from Blackbird, the men’s store that was formally in Ballard, and now is online only. Check out the delicious Blackbird incense and the Blackbird Soap inspired by the 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens. The soap’s lather has a woodsy-mint fragrance and takes on a blackened ash colored hue from the charcoal contents—a perfect stocking stuffer for the guy in your life. The jewelry selection of necklaces, rings and bracelets are from New York-based designers and have simple but edgy looks and friendly price points. During my recent visit, I purchased a little black metallic ring—in the name of research of course—and I have yet to take it off I love it so much.

With the holiday season just around the corner, 8telier is a welcome addition to Pacific Place and a perfect place to find modern wardrobe pieces for day or evening, as well as unique gifts. The small but stellar store is proof yet again that great things come in small packages. Happy shopping.

8telier is at Pacific Place, Level 1 (600 Pine St., Suite 120A), open Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 8 PM, and Sunday 11 Am to 7 PM.
