Halloween comes early this year. Discover what lurks in the dark wood at EMP’s most terrifying party of the year:

A full moon rises, the wind howls, and creatures of the night emerge as EMP Museum presents Fashionably Undead Bash: Beware the Woods on Saturday, October 18, 2014.

Enjoy costume contests, a ghostly photo booth, twisted drink specials, foot-stomping hillbilly jams from Portland’s Water Tower, a dance party with DJ Severed Hans, flashlight gallery tours, an interactive horror scavenger hunt in the style of Cabin in the Woods, and more to be announced soon.

Drawing inspiration from pulse-pounding moments in films like Evil Dead, Friday the 13th, The Blair Witch Project, Cabin Fever, Pan’s Labyrinth, as well as urban legends, this year’s Halloween bash reminds us that the woods are not always so lovely as they are dark and deep.

Costumes are strongly encouraged. Bonus points to those who dress to the theme and channel their wicked alter-ego. Think vampires of the Southern bayous, machete-slinging Jason Voorhees, a zombie redneck torture family member, witches, undead campers, Ash with his chainsaw hand—for there are strange things that lurk in the dark, dark wood! Prizes for Most Fashionably Undead, Best Creature, Most Creative, and Best Overall Costume.

Admission includes entry into EMP’s exhibit Can’t Look Away: The Lure of Horror Film.
