This year marks the ten year anniversary of the Tashiro Kaplan Artist Lofts—a space that has provided a venue for artistic exploration and galleries in the Pioneer Square region. In celebration of such a momentous occasion, the TK building will host Art of the City on August 2, from 11 AM to 9 PM. The event spills from the building into the street and will feature work from TK tenants, as well as artists from all over the city. Baso Fibonacci, Jay Mason and Jeff Jacobson will participate in the live painting event—an exciting chance to see these artists in action. Art of the City also boasts live performances by musicians and artists. There will be guest artist exhibitions, live painting, interactive sculpture, artisan booths, a pig roast (!), food trucks and 25 open galleries and studios. The event is free and open to the public!

The Tashiro Kaplan building opened in June of 2004, “to provide 50 units of affordable housing and creative space to artists and their families, as well as over 25 commercial arts related.”
