Target announced on May 22, 2014 that their latest collaboration would be with designer Joseph Altuzarra, a nominee for this year’s 2014 CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award and one of the most exciting new young designers out there. Altuzarra is known for his sophisticated and feminine designs, combining the iconic looks of the women of NYC and Paris. This capsule collection for Target will consist of women’s ready-to-wear, lingerie, accessories, and shoes all inspired by a mix of iconic Altuzarra silhouettes, including stiletto boots, slim-cut blazers and his signature slit skirts.
Paris-born and based in New York City, Altuzarra’s coveted designs have won him accolades from his peers, including awarded the CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear Design in 2012 and the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award in 2011. Prior to launching his own label in 2008, he worked as a freelance designer at Proenza Schouler, an apprentice with patternmaker Nicolas Caïto, former head of Rochas atelier, and as first assistant to Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci. His coveted pieces have a huge following of strong and sophisticated women.
To announce the collection to friends and family, Altuzarra sent a special delivery to them via the mail: a parcel of delicate, handpicked pieces, including a lace mask from a series of lingerie in the new collection. The limited edition collection will consist of 50 items ranging in price from $17.99 to $89.99. With the sale launching on September 14, 2014, let us keep our fingers crossed that Target is ready for the avalanche of fashion fans that will be hoping to score pieces from the collection.
