There is still time left to catch the 5th Avenue and ACT Theatre’s collaboration of “Little Shop of Horrors“. The run continues till June 15th and then it will finally have to close.
I have to admit I love the Rick Moranis movie of “Little Shop of Horrors”. And it is really hard to beat Steve Martin as an evil dentist singing about why the field of dentistry was meant for him. So I had a hard time getting into some of performances of this production, but I still found a lot of charm and enjoyed it immensely. I could even hear my friend singing under his breath to some of the songs…
I should note that if you have only seen the musical movie version of this story, the ending may shock you. But it keeps true to the Off-Broadway productions. At one time the movie also had the same ending, but it got ranked so low with the test screenings they had to completely re-shoot the ending. The original version can be found on the latest blu-ray version.
