Over Valentines Day weekend, sweethearts, girlfriends and those looking to escape the conventionality of the Hallmark holiday, made their way over to The Triple Door’s Mainstage Theatre to see The Atomic Bombshells perform their most recent act “J’Adore: A Burlesque Valentine.” Right as the red velvet curtains rose, the room filled with energy as boylesque and drag sensation, BenDeLaCreme introduced each of the bombshells, including Miss Indigo Blue, Honey D. Luxe and aerialist extraordinaire Tanya Brno.
While a good burlesque act can be hard to come by these days, The Atomic Bombshells incorporated a mix of all the key elements: vintage Bourbon Street striptease, MGM-era glamour, and show-stopping choreography. The costumes were equally as captivating, designed by the performers themselves, as well as Seattle’s most in-demand costumer J. Von Stratton. Coco Chanel once said, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory.” However, Miss Stratton does not take one piece of this advice into consideration. She pours her imagination into each design and pushes the boundaries on every level. The result is always dramatic, sexy, and of course bedazzled.
You can catch a few of the bombshells in The Swedish Housewife’s upcoming show “House of Thee UnHoly!”
