On January 10, 2014, Nordstrom introduced the third installment of their Pop-In Shops, “New Beginnings,” which is being featured online and in eight of the Nordstrom stores across the country. Each shop lasts four to five weeks and features items curated to a theme. The Pop-In Shop series is the work of Olivia Kim, former Vice President of Creative for Opening Ceremony and current Director of Creative Projects for Nordstrom.
For “New Beginnings,” items were specifically selected to help kick off 2014 with improved health and style—and hopefully help one keep one’s new years resolutions. I started out the visit at the “aura reading machine” set up outside the shop, where my pink and orange glow was no match for the rainbow aura given out by Vanguard Seattle Photographer Jed Asher. Hmmm.
Around the corner we were greeted with a selection of Miranda Kerr’s Kora Organics skincare line, astrology themed items—including enchanting Zodiac sweatshirts by VFiles—gorgeous pebble leather Kara handbags, and Unearthen Jewelry by designer Gia Bahm, made from bullet casings and crystals. Frame Denim in the shop featured denim from a style collaboration with model Karlie Kloss, as well as blouses, jackets and sweatshirts from the brand. Fitness items like the edgy designs of Michi fitness wear, Jawbone “Up” Fitness Wristbands, and my personal favorite, the uber-cool Dahon “Mu P8” Folding Bike. You can even clean up your act in your house with Murchison-Hume natural cleaning products, and the super cool Dyson Digital slim vacuum. Have some fun with the latest cool camera, the Fujifilm Instax mini camera, Manic Panic hair dye and fabulous lashes. The mix of products is carefully curated and eclectic.
Want to find out what 2014 has in store for you? Book a private appointment with astrologers and life coaches Tali and Ophira Edut, AKA The Astro Twins, who will be on hand on Tuesday, January 14, from 6-8 PM at the downtown Seattle store. The Pop-In Shop had a great assortment of trend-setting health, beauty and wellness products all in one place with the idea of a one-stop shopping experience.
The Nordstrom Flagship store downtown’s Pop-In store is located in the lower level in Men’s. (And don’t worry, East-siders: The Bellevue Nordstrom has a “New Beginnings” Pop-In Shop, too.)
