This weekend I had the pleasure of seeing local songstress Intisaar Jubran perform at The Comet Tavern. After the performance, she premiered her latest video, co-written and directed by local filmmaker Alex Berry. It’s a perfect video for the season, with creeping suspense, drag and voodoo, and a macabre end that provides the bitter to the sweet of Intisaar’s ethereal vocals. The details, straight from the artists:

‘Kate’ is a short film that was co-written by Intisaar Jubran and Alex Berry, and directed/shot/edited by Alex Berry. It is a dark and abstract exploration of gender, performance, jealousy, and voyeurism. The film features two drag performers, Adé A Cônnère and Bambi Le Hart, as well as the song’s writer and performer, Intisaar Jubran, who plays a concerned audience member. The film was shot in Seattle at Washington Hall, and released on October 27th, 2012. The song was recorded in Seattle at Houdini’s Tree Studios as part of Intisaar’s self-titled EP, which was released on June 6th, 2012.

The rest of the releases can be sampled and purchased at See more of Alex Berry’s work here.
